We got a chance to Interview Khurram Sheikh of TowmyDrive Startup. Let me introduce you to him.

Khurram has been in the IT industry for over ten years and his forte is in mobile applications and product development. Prior to Xpertogo, he was at Careem as an infrastructure manager, he was also with Creative Chaos where he was instrumental in setting up the Support Department for Face-to-Face, a product of Proximate Global US. His skill set includes designing innovative mobile applications and tools as well as specialized products. His role will be to drive the innovation team forward with application updates, oversee all technical inquiries and manage service provider relations.

Q. Tell us about your startup Towmydrive?

Ans. TowMyDrive is a free app that allows UAE drivers to directly request roadside assistance via GPS-enabled technology.

TowMyDrive provides roadside assistance faster than traditional methods due to the app’s proximity-based dispatch which matches the closest roadside assistance unit with the driver. On average, stranded motorists who use the app are serviced within 15 minutes by the TowMyDrive support network. No Membership Fees. Affordable Flat Rates. Fast ETA’s. Support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Q. How Towmydrive idea came into your mind?

Ans. I was driving up to Abu Dhabi and our car broke down. We were stuck mid-way between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and I knew it was going to be a long wait no matter which Emirate I called for a tow truck service so as I sat, I realized that very few options were available in UAE.  It came to  mind to find a way to find out what tow trucks were closest driving down Sheikh Zayed Road/Abu Dhabi Road. Then it was all uphill from there. So, why not develop a network of service providers who can be contacted based on GPS-enabled software?

Q. What motivates you?

Ans. To play hero to those who needs assistance in towing their truck even at the most untimely time – it makes you feel good that you are there to help them at their situation.

Q.What are the most necessary skills to become a successful entrepreneur?

Ans. You have to be a jack of all.

Q.Tell us about your hobbies?

Ans. I have long list of hobbies but I will list the major ones: coding, repairing electronic circuits, swimming, cycling, gym, this one is my favorite super nap whenever and where ever.

Q. How do you define success?

Ans. We are solving a current problem that exist in UAE and this shows our good intention to be able to help.  Thus, this is also our hope (and best bet) for TowMyDrive to be successful. Technology also plays a great part in the business since merging our service with technology, we change the way how road side assistance used to work traditionally. Now, they can track movements of their road side assistant and just wait for them to arrive till they get rescued.

Q. What is the advice that you would like to give to young entrepreneurs or startups?

Ans. Its OK to make mistakes, infact its good to make mistake while your entrepreneurs, its the mistakes that drive your business to the next level.

Q.Where you see yourself and your startup in 10 years?

Ans. We see Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah being completely covered within couple of months. The rest of UAE including all off-roading incidents to be covered in six months. We want to see TowMyDrive in most of the GCC by end of the year, it is a product that I believe is scalable and a service that is needed in every market.
