Recently Toyota has introduced Robotic leg braces for people who suffer from leg loss due to various reasons.

This year Toyota aims to rent out leg braces to almost 100 Japanese medical centers. The system is named as WelWalk WW-1000 that is specifically designed for people who have lost one leg due to medical conditions such as stroke patients. The leg braces fit perfectly in lower leg and around the knee and helps the person to bend the joint successfully. The medical team would have the ability to monitor and control the system when patient is using it. The system would also support patients to recover early in case of paralysis.

Toyota has developed Robotic Leg Braces in collaboration with Fujita Health University Hospital.      Toshiyuki Isobe, Toyota’s chief research officers, said Robotic Leg braces would help “to reduce the burden on the patient and allows them to engage in training for longer.”Dr Eiichi Saito, executive vice president of Fujita Health University, described Robotic Leg Braces by saying “just enough assistance”.

Robotic Leg Braces are available on rent costing one million yen ($9,130; £7,298) along with monthly fee of 350,000 yen ($3,195; £2,554). Different sensors are attached with the leg braces. These sensors monitor and help the patients to know that how they are walking. It provides enough supports to patients and enables them to use it on their own. In short, this is not the first time when Toyota developed something that we all can admire.
