Do you take it hard to remember that long bunch of code named password for different accounts? There is good news for you.
These days Google is testing a password free login system for their users across the globe. This idea basically stem from the concept that naturally many human are not really good in remembering their account passwords.
No one can deny that a wrong password choice may result into a huge security risk. If you are using the same pattern throughout all devices or have the same password for all accounts then you may become the victim of identity theft. Therefore, Google aims to eliminate traditional password or pin logins in upcoming years.
The Google I/O last year introduced a new project named Project Abacus – this project aims to give you the freedom to log in without using your password or pin. The project abacus would replace your creepy passwords routine with a phone login. The whole system would be based upon the test score. The built in sensors are designed to calculate a continuous “test score” based on your voice, speech, location, face and also many other factors.
Dan Kaufman, director of Google Advanced Technologies and Projects division who is handling abacus project says that “we hope to get rid from the second-factor authentication soon (The second-factor authentication requires the user to sign in from their computer but also identify their identities via second device, usually smart device). Assuming if it goes well, this should go out to every Android developer by the end of the year.”
But this is not all Google also aims to develop a Test Score API that will be forwarded to all the android developers. Now it’s up to developer’s decision that whether this password free login is secure enough to be replaced with traditional log in methods or not.
A survey conducted by an adaptive authentication company SecureAuth indicated that 66 percent of cyber security professionals are exploring the ways to replace old password routine. It also described that more than third of people regularly ask for forgotten passwords and in coming years this password routine will become obsolete.
Abacus project is now going through the testing process in different financial institutes and universities across 28 states but once it gets successful it would introduce a completely new log in system around the world. We all are super excited to see Google’s new password free log in systems in future.
